Congratulations, you decided to get a tattoo, now, you don't want to get a tiny tattoo like everybody is getting, you decided to commit to a decently sized piece of art. Awesome!

But you might still have some questions going through your mind:

– What should I get?

– Will a big tattoo not look to masculine?

– What style should I go for?

– How and with whom should I book in?

All very fair questions. But don't worry, I am here to answer exactly those.

And today I am going to show you 7 tattoo design ideas for women:

1. Gems

A very feminine design, that can come with a lot of contrast. It will look amazing not only as a black and grey piece but also in full colour.

Check out this wristlet by the amazing Ryan Ashley Markley:

Or this sparkly piece by Jenna Kerr

2. Animal Portraits

Do you have a pet that you love dearly? Maybe you are passionate about animals or simply just love wildlife, then an animal tattoo would be the perfect choice for you!

And this full colour artwork by one of the coolest people Megan Massacre

3. Flowers

Look at this beautiful piece by Andrés Acosta

4. What about a stunning lady-face?

Hannah Flowers, the master of the illustrative lady face

5. Black and grey realism portraits

There are many tattoo artists out there tattooing black and grey portraits. Here are a few that are doing an extraordinary job:

Look at this sick piece by Thomas Carli jarlier

6. Watercolour tattoos

Many are out there, not that many are actually well done. Have you seen the watercolour tattoos that just look like weird colour-patches, they are absolutely horrible. So if you decide to get one, make sure to check out the artists work first (this of course is the case for any tattoo genre)

If you get a watercolour tattoo from chenjie, you will certainly never regret it. Check out her work:

7. Cute illustrative tattoos

There are a lot of tattoos in this category and it is essentially for everybody that is into cutsie stuff. Very kawaii!

She doesn't only tattoo it, she lives the cute life. Laura Anunaki

We love this minimalistic style by hugocide

These are a few tattoos and styles by artists I follow on a daily basis. There are obviously many more tattoos that are not listed tat could be perfect to you. Take as much inspiration from these tattoos as you need, just make sure not to copy tattoos.

If you plan on booking in for an appointment soon, check out our post "4 things NOT to do when booking a tattoo appointment"
